Position:
Applications will be considered at all levels of appointment for a faculty position in Inorganic or Organometallic Chemistry, with rank determined by experience and professional accomplishments, such as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.
Rank/salary:
Permanent, full-time 9-month appointment, tenure-track at the Pullman campus. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Effective date:
August 16, 2009, or later.
Duties:
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in inorganic chemistry and teach as required by the Department in the general chemistry curriculum.
- Develop and maintain an innovative, competitive, vigorous, and internationally recognized research program in inorganic chemistry.
- Establish significant external research funding in support of their research program.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate research in their laboratory.
- Participate in course, laboratory, and curriculum development in chemistry.
- Recruit highly qualified students into the Department of Chemistry
- Participate in Departmental, College and University faculty activities.
- Participate in development of appropriate Departmental focus area(s) through collaborative interactions with other faculty, including acquisition and shared use of research equipment.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline by date of hire
- Evidence of potential for establishing and/or maintaining an outstanding research program in inorganic/organometallic chemistry at WSU.
- The successful candidate must be qualified to teach both graduate and undergraduate inorganic chemistry, as well as general chemistry.
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required

Preference will be given to:
- Individuals whose research interests complement existing faculty programs in one or more of the three designated Departmental focus areas: Energy and the Environment, Chemical Biology, and Materials Chemistry. For additional information concerning these areas, see: www.chem.wsu.edu.
- Individuals with demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
- Post-doctoral experience is preferred for the Assistant Professor candidate.

(3) candidates at the Assistant Professor level, please include a detailed research proposal in their areas of interest, significant doctoral and/or postdoctoral research accomplishments, as indicated in published peer-reviewed work, and evidence of scholastic aptitude, such as indicated in letters of reference from preceptors; for candidates at the Associate Professor or Professor level, evidence of a strong publication history in peer-reviewed journals and an established, well-funded, internationally recognized research laboratory in inorganic or organometallic chemistry is required.
(4) candidates at the Assistant level should arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent directly to the search committee chair. Candidates at the Associate/Professor level please provide the names of three references.
